Who We Are
RXGator (rxgator.info) is a free prescription drug price comparison tool operated by Technology Assessment Project LLC, based in Glenview, Illinois. RXGator is a public-benefit project committed to prescription pricing transparency.
What Data We Collect
When you use RXGator, we collect the following information:
- Drug searches: The drug name, quantity, and zip code you enter when searching. This is logged to help us understand which drugs users need most, so we can prioritize adding more data sources.
- Feedback submissions: If you submit feedback through the feedback form, we store your helpfulness rating and comments to improve the tool.
- Server logs: Standard web server logs including IP address, browser type, and timestamp. These are used for security monitoring and are automatically deleted after 30 days.
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require an account, login, or registration to use RXGator.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal health information beyond the drug names you search.
- We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes.
- We do not use any third-party analytics that track individual users across the web (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no tracking pixels of any kind).
- We do not use fingerprinting, local storage tracking, or any cross-site tracking technologies.
How We Use Your Data
Search log data is used exclusively for:
- Understanding which drugs are most frequently searched, to prioritize adding pricing data from additional pharmacy platforms.
- Identifying drugs that return no results, so we can expand our data sources to cover them.
- Monitoring site performance and diagnosing technical issues.
- Generating aggregate, anonymized statistics about tool usage (e.g., "1,000 searches this month" — never "User X searched for Drug Y").
Third-Party Data Sources
RXGator queries the following external services to provide pricing information:
- Cost Plus Drugs (costplusdrugs.com) — queried via their public API for drug pricing.
- Medicaid NADAC (data.medicaid.gov) — queried for national average drug acquisition costs. This is public government data.
- RxNorm (National Library of Medicine) — queried for drug name normalization and brand-to-generic matching.
- MedlinePlus (National Library of Medicine) — queried for consumer drug information.
- openFDA (FDA) — queried for drug safety data and NDC codes.
- SingleCare — pharmacy pricing data obtained via scheduled data collection and stored locally.
When you search for a drug, your search term is sent to these services to retrieve pricing data. These services receive only the drug name — they do not receive your IP address, location, or any identifying information from RXGator. The zip code you enter is used locally to display location context but is not currently transmitted to external services.
Advertising
As of July 2026, RXGator does not display any advertising. The following describes our policies for when advertising is implemented in the future.
RXGator may display advertising through Google AdSense or similar advertising networks to fund platform operations. When advertising is active:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to RXGator and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
- We will never share drug search data with advertising networks.
- We will never use health-related search data to target or personalize ads.
- All advertisements will be clearly labeled.
Affiliate Links
RXGator may include affiliate links to pharmacy platforms (such as Cost Plus Drugs or SingleCare). If you click through to a platform and complete a transaction, RXGator may receive a small referral commission. These links are always clearly identified. Affiliate relationships never affect how prices are ranked — results are always sorted by lowest price first, regardless of whether RXGator has an affiliate relationship with the platform.
Data Security
RXGator uses HTTPS encryption for all connections. Search logs and feedback data are stored on a secured virtual private server. Access to server data is restricted to the site administrator. We do not store payment information of any kind.
Data Retention
- Search logs: Retained indefinitely for aggregate analysis. Individual log entries contain only drug name, quantity, zip code, timestamp, and result summary — no personally identifiable information.
- Feedback submissions: Retained indefinitely to inform product development.
- Server access logs: Automatically deleted after 30 days.
Children's Privacy
RXGator is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through our service, please contact us at the email below.
Your Rights
Because RXGator does not require accounts or collect personally identifiable information, there is generally no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you submitted feedback and would like it removed, contact us at the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We will not reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.
