We'll calculate your projected annual out-of-pocket cost for each plan in your state, including premiums, deductible, and drug copays/coinsurance.
How We Calculate Costs
This tool uses official CMS Public Use File data (July 2026 release) for all plan details, formulary tiers, and cost-sharing amounts. Here's how the annual cost projection works:
Annual Premium: Monthly premium × 12
Deductible Phase: If the plan's deductible applies to a drug's tier, the full negotiated price is charged until the deductible ($615 standard) is met. We estimate drug costs using typical tier-based pricing.
Initial Coverage Phase: After the deductible, you pay your plan's copay or coinsurance for each drug based on its formulary tier (Tier 1 = preferred generic through Tier 5 = specialty).
Catastrophic Phase: After $2,100 in total out-of-pocket spending (IRA-adjusted for 2026), you pay $0 for the rest of the year.
Drug prices are estimated using typical retail costs per tier level. Actual costs may vary based on your pharmacy and specific drug pricing.
Important: This tool compares stand-alone Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) only, not Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage. Results are estimates — always verify with the plan and Medicare Plan Finder before enrolling.
